Meet the experts

Luuk Terbeek and Karen Verduijn jointly conduct research into the effectiveness of Blended Learning. Karen and Luuk have worked closely together for many years to prepare, implement and evaluate the IXA Blended Learning pilots.


Luuk Terbeek

Luuk Terbeek, MSc. is a PhD candidate, trainer and advisor Blended Learning and Online Learning at VU Amsterdam. Luuk is an educational scientist, holds a background in the Dutch e-Learning industry and is involved in many projects aimed to improve online and blended learning. He provides lectures, master classes, teacher training aimed at the (re)design, development and facilitation of blended learning at the VU Amsterdam and beyond. Luuk is a former board member of the Dutch Moodle Association (Ned-Moove) and the Simulation and Gaming Association Netherlands (SAGANET). Beside, Luuk initiated the SURF Special Interest Group (SIG) Blended Learning which he co-chaired for over three years. Currently Luuk is a involved in the activities of the National Acceleration Plan, zone Evidence-Informed Educational Innovation with ICT. You can contact Luuk via l.terbeek@vu.nl


Karen Verduijn

Karen Verduijn, PhD is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has, amongst others, set up (2009-2014) and run (2014-2017) the Amsterdam joint (VU, UvA) MSc in Entrepreneurship and is now - amongst other things - involved in the Entrepreneurship Blended Learning Project.

She has recently co-edited a book on "Revitalizing Entrepreneurship Education" (Routledge, 2018) and is overall curious to learn what blended learning can bring to (revitalizing) entrepreneurship education, and to enhancing students' learning and engagement, and share her experiences.
